Power Machines will act as the EPC contractor in the project for reconstruction of two units of the Norilsk TPP-2

PJSC Power Machines and PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel have signed a contract for the turn-key reconstruction of two power units of the Norilsk TPP-2. Under the terms of the contract, Power Machines is to reconstruct the two units of the Norilsk TPP-2 with a complete replacement of the main and auxiliary equipment.

As part of the project, Power Machines will execute a full range of worked-out equipment dismantling works , equipment design, manufacture, and supply, as well as its installation and commissioning.

– Power Machines has already successfully executed EPC projects for power generation facilities construction," said Roman Filippov, General Director of Power Machines. – In 2016, we completed the project to build the second train of the Blagoveshchenskaya TPP-2 in the Far East. Currently, Power Machines is implementing a large EPC project in Vietnam to build the Long Phu-1 TPP with a total capacity of 1200 MW.

The scope of supply for each power unit of the Norilsk TPP-2 includes:

- a steam heat-recovery turbine with a capacity of 130 MW, complete with a turbogenerator produced by Power Machines;

- a boiler with a steam capacity of 500 tons per hour, produced by Taganrog Boiler-Making Works "Krasny Kotelshchik", a part of Power Machines Group of Companies;

- two block transformers for own needs with a capacity of 160 MVA and 25 MVA, manufactured by Power Machines – Toshiba. High-Voltage Transformers, the joint venture, a part of Power Machines Group of Companies.

The commissioning of reconstructed unit No. 1 is scheduled for 2020, and that of power unit No. 2 is scheduled for 2022.

The project implementation will help increase the reliability and economic efficiency of energy production of the Norilsk TPP-2, and reduce operational, fuel and energy costs. The upgraded units will ensure that the needs of the consumers of Norilsk Nickel's Polar Division and Talnakh Municipal District of Norilsk for thermal energy and electricity will be met in the near future.

The signing of the contract was preceded by a competition held by Norilsk Nickel, whose results were announced in December 2016.
